President and CEO
Welcome to the Grand Rapids Urban League. For almost 70 years, your Urban League has been a part of this community providing quality services in the areas of Employment and Training, Housing and Homeless Prevention, Education, Scholarship, Health, and Family and Youth Services.
Your Urban League continuously works as a catalyst for positive change and holds strongly to the ideals that are the American dream. The Board of Directors who govern this organization, are made up of a dynamic group of individuals integrated by race and gender, and representing business, industry, labor, education and religion. The Grand Rapids Urban League is a part of a national network that provides services through more than 100 affiliates in 36 states and the District of Columbia.
People depend on the Grand Rapids Urban League to provide them with the tools to help build and fulfill their dreams. For some it is homeownership; or the opportunity to acquire training to obtain and/or keep a good job. For others it is eliminating the threat of foreclosure or eviction; or the ability to obtain safe and affordable housing. We're there with constant encouragement and assistance to help young people get off to a strong start in life to complete school and go on to higher education, or to get connected with vocational training that could eventually lead to a good job. Still others come to us to acquire the knowledge to start a small business, or to become a more skillful parent. For more than half a century, our mission remains the same: We are here to serve and to make a difference.
Today, the League embarks upon its expanded mission to build strong families, and we need your help to accomplish this critical goal.
Please join us in our commitment is to continue the invaluable services and outreach to our communities by becoming a member in the Friend in 2010 membership campaign. And thank you so very much for supporting the Grand Rapids Urban League.
